California Van Halen Tribute Band to perform on Maui Maui Weekly Thursday, July 13, 2006 Hot For Teacher, the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier Van Halen tribute band, will make its first-ever appearance on the islands this month. The band will perform on Thursday, July 20, at Paradice Bluz in Lahaina, and the next evening at Charley’s in Pa‘ia. The doors open at 9 p.m. for both shows. Admission is $12. Formed in 1999 to showcase Van Halen’s David Lee Roth-era hits, Hot For Teacher has been relentlessly performing throughout the Western U.S., generating a following of dedicated fans and amazed concert-goers wherever they showcase with their non-stop, high energy rock ’n’ roll circus! Vocalist Randy Monroe belts out powerful and high-energy vocal rants, singing with the same volcanic intensity of the original recordings, while imitating David Lee Roth and supplying audiences with stage antics grooved to the beat of the music. The ripping, screaming virtuoso fretwork of guitarist Terry Lauderdale stirs audiences into the wildest of frenzies and leaves them in jaw-dropping awe—much the same as Eddie Van Halen. Jesse Scott’s Michael Anthony-style bass riffs and percussionist Eddie Studabaker’s Alex Van Halen meter-like skin-bashing, creates the bottom end from hell. The band’s demo CD and live performances can be downloaded at their Web site: www.hftrocks.com. |
