The East Bay Express has just voted HOT FOR TEACHER the best cover act or tribute band in the San Francisco Bay Area.
There are cover bands and then there are tribute bands. The East Bay's Hot for Teacher, formed in 1999 to pay homage to the classic David Lee Roth era of Van Halen, features not only old-school music but is fronted by an actual teacher, hence the name. The wildly entertaining singer Randy Monroe, a middle-school science teacher by day, pours much energy and enthusiasm into becoming Roth. Along with guitarist Jude Gold, bassist Jesse Scott, and drummer Eddie Studebaker, Monroe and co. take their act on the road quite often, due to demand. Hot for Teacher has played most of the Western US and has upcoming shows from San Francisco to Montana. The next time the urge strikes to hear "Somebody Get Me a Doctor" or "Runnin' With the Devil" live, and if you like VH but prefer to skip the Sammy Hagar years, a trip to see HFT is in order.
"Thank you for the kind words and the two thumbs up East Bay Express. Maybe Waldo can finally sit in the front of the bus? ...Nahh."

Last Night, HOT FOR TEACHER "threw it down" for the community of El Dorado Hills. The 3,000 Van Halen fans showed there appreciation by singing along to every song for the 2 plus hour show. Afterwards Randy and Jesse, who stayed the night in the lovely town of Folsom strolled down Sutter Street to the Powerhouse Inn and coincidentally met up with friend and HFT keyboard master Danny Meblin and his act The Cheeseballs. Naturally, the timing turned out to be both eloquent and perfect because as they were ending a set for a brief break, the first tune of the last set was Van Halen's Number 1 all-time hit Jump. Both Randy and Jesse "Jumped back" up on stage with The Cheeseballs and set the crowd into full party mode.
"Because of some much needed R&R for HFT's grade school teachers on beaches in the Florida Keys for Randy and Cabo San Lucas for Jesse, this was our only gig for June and July. What a way to go on a song writing hiatus"!
"We'll see you on the beach".

"Sundays are the usual day for many families to hang out together, call one another and generally tell each other how much you love them. Maybe it has something to do with being the Sabbath?"
HOT FOR TEACHER has been asked to help a friend and his family. Our friend Mel Snipes, former vocalist for The Gator Alley Band, a Lynard Skynard tribute was tragically killed last Autumn on Saturday, October 6th. Mel was on his way to perform at Aaron Pearson's 2nd Annual Monster Fest in Merced, CA.
At the time, when Mel didn't show for the gig, all of us became immediately concerned that something was wrong, because we all work so hard for each and every gig and there is NO WAY any true musician would ever "stand-up" their band/family. It is unethical.
The Gator Alley Band being the professionals they are, went ahead and performed, as members of the band filled in on the lead vocals. HOT FOR TEACHER, Izzy Ozborne and Aaron's Metallica tribute Damage Inc. also performed. Everyone found out the next day that a friend's Ford Explorer that Mel and his wife were riding in, had a rear tire blow-out on Highway 99 near Modesto. The SUV rolled, ejecting Mel and rolling over him, killing him instantly. This upcoming benefit at Slim's Saturday night May, 31st is to raise money for a pair of college trust funds (for Mel's two children Harley and Mark).
"As someone in the education industry, nothing could be more important, says Randy. Also, as someone who lost their father at an early age to cancer, it is an absolutely wonderful event to help a couple of kids that no longer have their dad around, as counsel, mentor and guardian"
The show line-up features friends from that fateful day HFT, Izzy Ozborne and The Gator Alley Band. Though Damage Inc. cannot attend personally because of a prior commitment, the band which includes Aaron Pearson, Stephan Goodwin, KK Kevin and Larry Howe's prayers are with Mel's kids. The Refugees a Tom Petty tribute have stepped-up and volunteered their services.
Sundays and in fact any day, makes for a good time to reflect on those that we love and care for and about; that are with us on Earth and those only with us in sprint. Mel's spirit lives on in those who survive and his prodigy!
-Randy Monroe and The HFT Family
*Aaron Pearson and Larry Howe (Damage Inc.) are former HFT musicians and will forever be "HFT family".

Foothill Middle School in Walnut Creek celebrates Earth Day!
HFT's Rockin' Randy Monroe, is an Earth Science Teacher at national Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished Foothill Middle School. He has been collaborating with Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control Biologist Chris Miller and the two have been developing a northern California Native Fishes Program, also with recent assistance from the Marine Science Institute and California Fish and Game. The program is now in its 6th year and houses many species including the endangered Sacramento perch (extirpated from the Delta), tule perch, starry flounder, splittail, Sacramento blackfish, Sacramento sucker, threespine stickleback, prickly sculpin, California roach, white sturgeon, and initially discovered in Oakland's Redwood regional Park and claim to fame salmonid, rainbow (freshwater) or steelhead (androgenous) trout.
"We are excited to host the Save Our Wild Salmon Road Show as part of our Earth Day activities at Foothill. We need programs like this to raise public awareness about the trouble facing our salmon runs today. We have serious problems along the entire west coast – in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in northern California, the Klamath River in Oregon, the Columbia-Snake Rivers that divide Oregon from Washington, and many of the smaller rivers in between. For the first time ever, both the salmon commercial and sport fishing season has been canceled along the California and Oregon coasts. This is a bi-partisan issue and the public needs to get active real fast, if we have any hope of getting our elected officials to tackle these problems. Students everywhere are the next generation and it is crucial that they be informed and be part of the solution, too."
Also slated for Earth Day festivities will be an assembly with Earth Capades an Environmental Vaudeville Show, and informational stations from the Contra Costa Water District, Contra Costa Clean Water Program and the City of Walnut Creek Clean Water Program, the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District, Friends of Mt. Diablo Creek and the Diablo Valley Fly fishing Club. Representatives from each organization will be on-hand during the lunch sessions to provide information for students.
We hope that this is the first of many annual celebrations and we are already looking forward to next year and to include many more federal, state, and local businesses and corporations that promote awareness and positive impacts regarding the environment.

"Everybody Wants Some!" ...especially El Paso, Texas. HOT FOR TEACHER just performed to an 850 person capacity SELL-OUT at Club 101 in El Paso. The boys flew down Friday morning, set up, did a radio interview with local DJ celebrity Scott Ronson on KLAQ Q 95.5 FM and rocked the town. "The crowd was enthusiastic, interactive and sang along on all the tunes. They really know and love their their Van Halen in Texas. And as far as the club and promoters Joe and Al, they know how to treat their rock stars. It was first class all the way baby. HFT also had the opportunity to try the new Anheuser-Busch Jimmy Buffet Land Shark Lager and I tell ya, comparable to Corona, it is really good".
For those of you that unfortunately missed us, keep checking in for updates or better yet, sign-up for the emailer on the homepage.
HFT will be back for sure, to not only supply rest of the Lone Star State, but also including Northern Mexico's Juarez and Chihuahua with the sounds of summers past. "Arriba"!

HOT FOR TEACHER back in Walnut Creek after 30 month hiatus!
HOT FOR TEACHER, originally formed by vocalist Randy Monroe in Walnut Creek during the Fall of 1999 will be back in "da Creek" on Friday April 4, 2008 at Betty's Rock Bar. It'll be the first time HFT has performed since the September 2005 Hurric-Aid Benefit that sold out in 2 hours and raised over $45,000.00 for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Though HFT made a big fund-raising impact, the majority of monies flowed from the audience there to see "Rock Superstars" Night Ranger, Y&T, Tesla, and Eric Martin.
"Its great when a bunch of friends and acquaintances can get together, make some music, party a bit, have some fun and raise money for such a tremendous and important cause" says Rockin' Randy.
Speaking of friends, super hotties and Go-Gos tribute Beauty and the Beat will be making their performance debut opening the show and Randy's buddy Brad Gillis will be coming out for a 3 song cameo. CC Rocks master Metal Matt will be on hand shooting and interviewing HFT as their feature for the upcoming CC Rocks April Show.

Oh the Bass Playin' Thunder Gods have spoken and this year's recognition goes to HOT FOR TEACHER's Jess Scott. That's right, Jesse has just become the proud guardian of a brand new Ampeg endorsement. Ampeg, the leaders in bass amplification have given the green flag to Super Hero Jesse Scott. Because of the recent NAMM appearance, many of the top merchants have heard and witnessed the amazing technical ability of our musicians. Though some companies still shy away from Tribute Acts, HFT has been steadily climbing the ranks particularly over the last two years, transcending and leaping above all tribute act boundaries.
Kudos Conductor Jess Scott, kudos!

HOT FOR TEACHER who is endorsed by Nady Systems Inc. started the 2008 year off "on the good foot"! Playing his first gig as the new HFT guitarist Jude Gold and the boys "blew the roof off"the Hilton at NAMM 2008 Friday night to a capacity crowd that was both shocked and awed by the amazing talent of the band's musicians. Beginning the show with side one of the album, Van Halen 1, the crowd stood completely amazed with jaws wide open. HFT then invited up friend and "Rock God" Pat Travers who threw down a blazing rendition of Cream's Born Under A Bad Sign. The NAMM officials were so impressed, HFT was immediately asked back to perform for NAMM 2009. On Saturday HOT FOR TEACHER showcased for an encore performance inside of the NAMM Convention on the big patio stage, The crowd comprised of largly industry personas was absolutely enthusiastic clapping, singing, dancing and partying along with HOT FOR TEACHER's renditions of the sounds created by the mighty David Lee Roth era Van Halen.
"What a blast we have had at this years NAMM", says Randy. "I wasn't sure about how everybody associated with the industry would react and receive us being a Van Halen tribute 'cause dems sum mighty big shoes, ...but the feedback was positive and gracious by ALL! They do like their Van Halen in SoCal"

HOT FOR TEACHER's "skin-bashing maniac" Ed Studebaker is the proud father of a beautiful 8lb. 11oz. baby girl born with a full head of brunette hair the morning of 12/31/07, New Year's Eve!
Ed jokingly mentioned a few months ago a girl's name, Iowna Blue; in which case her name would be "I own a blue Studebaker"!
Joking aside, Ed's prettier half Alison, an authentic Irish lass aptly named their new daughter Niamh that happens to be a Gaelic name and is pronounced Nieve.
Congratulations to Eddie and Alison. We love you!

The Official HOT FOR TEACHER Forum Re: REDWOOD CITY ROCKS!!!!!!
Thanks for the compliments, much appreciated."I had a positively raging time playing with HFT". Thanks for suggesting me to Randy when Tyrannosaurus Terry got hired for the big Europe tour with Heathen.
"It was an absolute pleasure playing those roller coaster riffs with a band that can handle all the twists and turns". Aaron (Leigh -HFT bassist 5/05-12/05) and Chris (Kontos-HFT drummer 5/05-9/05; Spiralarms - Present), you guys are truly amazing.
And, not to kiss up to the boss, but I hope everybody who never saw Roth-era Van Halen realizes what a treat Randy's giving you -- he's actually SINGING the songs, and he's singing them with same or more volcanic intensity than the original album versions. That's a LOT more than DLR, god bless him, ever used to do or does at live shows. And to be in a room full of true Van Halen fans like that, was like going to church for me. "I've always been a huge VH fan; now I'm also an HFT fan".
to quote Steve Perry, "....ooh oooh, anytime that ya need me..."
cheers all,
Jude

HOT FOR TEACHER's CD Release Party was a smashing success and a whole lot of fun last Saturday at the Little Fox in Redwood City. Many of our longtime friends were on hand for the occassion including Mr. Brad Gillis. It was a "Family Affair" complete with Mr. French and Mrs. Beasley.
Louis Reyes, aka Gene Simmons was the MC of the evening who brought HFT on to the stage [after finding us on the Sunset Strip and flying us out to New York to record]. "Gene" joined the boys halfway through the set and played "Rock and Roll All Night".
HFT performed the whole Van Halen I record in order to begin the show which was later joined by Brad Gillis and former HFT bassist Aaron Leigh, jamming out Night Ranger's hit "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", Ozzy's "Paranoid" and then ripped into "Crazy Train" during which, Aaron actually did "go[ing] off the rails on a crazy train" by tumbling off of the side of the stage into the jeering crowd - never missing a beat in classic Rock-n-Roll fashion. Somebody's gotta have a You Tube video of that up soon!
HFT broke out their new, "Multi-Media HFT Panama-O-Vision" with video clips from vintage Van Halen along with some "hot" HFT logos and graphics from all the aformentioned bands during the show.
See you all at the Oakley Almond Festival!

It will blow your minds!
That's right, Van Halen is finally back with David Lee Roth after 22 years. The tour has been announced and excitement fills the air.
Further details can be found on Van Halen's Website.
See you at the show!
"They were so amazingly spot on and tight with every tune. It was a fabulous evening under the stars and with the stars; true Musical Masters!"
Randy and Terry had know Jim for 7 years; since the beginning of HFT when they both attended an air show in Hayward, CA. Jim and Joanie were big VH/HFT fans and frequented many shows.
In 1999, Terry wrote a guitar instrumental tune called, "Aviator Asylum" that Jim used for his routine, when flying at his air shows with the Bulldog Team.
Jim soon became "The World's Top Acrobatic Stunt Pilot".
Jim also found and gave his time doing lectures for school kids about flying; in particular with Randy's Gifted and Talented/Enrichment Program at his former Glenbrook Middle.
An ace pilot, pillar of the community, and an even better Man.
He is and will be forever loved and his charismatic statue, charm and "down-to Earth" genuine self will be very missed.
In lieu of flowers, Jim LeRoy's friends and family are asking that contributions be directed to a scholarship fund being set up in the name of his 4-year old son, Tommy LeRoy.
Contributions should be directed to

Last week, Randy visited Yellowstone National Park to sample various hot springs including Odsidian Pool, Obsidian Pool Prime, O.P Mud Vent, Sperm Pool, Octopus Pool, Norris Geyser Basin, and Mammoth Hot Springs with Dr. John Spear PhD. of the Colorado School of Mines (pictured below with post grad student Chuck).
While on the trip he had the opportunity to view up close and personal many of the large animals that inhabit the YNP ecosystem: bison, elk, moose, coyote, otter, beaver, prairie dogs, grizzly and black bear and in particular wolves; both Agate Peak and Hayden Valley Packs. Randy had 3 Hayden Pack wolves, the 2 collared Alpha male and female and 1 lower ranking member, walk right in front of him his first night. This was an unbelievable fate of luck and something very few ever experience.
Having a life-long affinity for wolves and with recent collaborations with Pat Valentino from the California Wolf Project and Ameroq Weiss of Defenders of Wildlife, Randy was able to meet Dr. Douglas Smith PhD and his team. Doug is the Chief Biologist for the YNP Wolf Reintroduction, now celebrating their 12th year of success and is featured in virtually every wolf documentary; most notably National Geographic.
In the mornings, Randy is back to working locally with the Mt. Diablo Unified School District's GATE "Talents To Go" Science Summer Program as a Lead Teacher.
In the afternoons, Randy is at JGI and collaborating with Industrial Initiatives for Science and Math Educators (IISME) to develop middle and high school-based science curricula. Evenings and weekends he has the writing, recording and performing responsibilities to address.
Recall last summer, Randy worked through IISME for Lockheed Martin Space Company as a Systems Engineer and is an on-going Educator for the New Horizons probe to Pluto (pictured on right).
When does he sleep...?

"Its a great opportunity to showcase the amazing talent of the current and best line-up we have ever had. Though all the past musicians, which includes VH's Michael Anthony got and pushed HFT in to the national spotlight, this group of players is and will be the foundation and cornerstone for a long time to come, of what we have been trying to recreate; the album quality songs that we all know and love, during a 'live' performance".
The HFT record is scheduled to be released in June 2007 and will include:

"What a night. We got to hang with some of the most awesome, honorable, and dedicated people I have ever had the good fortune of meeting" says Randy. "It is really humbling and insightful to hear the 'real' perspectives on what is occurring in Iraq, Right Now ...sounds like a song!
With so much political and media propaganda, the 2 main viewpoints I want to share are:
The medics, "If we leave now, Iran and Syria will most assuredly move in and take over. We need to be there at least for a couple more years"
The frontliners, "Like we are arrogant enough to stop a civil war that has been occurring for centuries, we need to get the hell out"!
"I am glad that we were able to give them a little relief from their everyday routines and when the rest of the brigade comes back home, scheduled for November, HFT has been requested and urged to come back. They like their Van Halen".
"The musicianship and comraderie of the band has breeched and trancended to an unbelieveable level", says Randy. "I am still amazed at how freaking great the musicians in HFT are and when we all 4 work, play and sing [together]. Man it sounds like ' da bomb!"
"It was only natural to drop the San Francisco classification to include the rest of the world, reaching our fans from all over California, Nevada, Washington and the rest of the world for that matter", explains Randy Monroe. "We're going to be here for awhile and don't want to limit our fan base to locals only.
Along with HFT, "Panama - A Millennium Tribute to Van Halen" features current and former members of Hanoi Rocks, Skid Row, Lillian Axe, Dio, Saigon Kick, Aerosmith, Rough Cutt, Zebra, Riot, The Ace Frehley Band, Rat Race Choir, Dangerous Toys, Lillian Axe, Derringer, Axis, Black Sabbath, Near Life Experience, and World War III among others.
Look for it in stores now...
Guerin, 36, has posted 710 points (356 goals, 354 assists) in 1010 career NHL games with St. Louis, Dallas, Boston, Edmonton and New Jersey.
Among all U.S.-born players in NHL history, Guerin ranks eighth in goals, 28th in assists and 21st in points.
In addition, Guerin has made 11 appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, registering 48 points (28-20=48) in 96 games. The Wilbraham, Massachusetts native won the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 1995, posting 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 20 games, including three assists in the series-clinching win against Detroit.
Guerin appeared in his fourth career All-Star Game this season (2006, 2004, 2003, 2001), where he posted two assists and a +4 plus/minus rating. He also has represented the United States at the Winter Olympics in 2006, 2004 and 1998 and at the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 and 2002.
Watch for future performances by Gillis along with HOT FOR TEACHER...
Check out the BX3 website for the tour that is still raging on!
"It was a night at church with some of the nicest, bad-ass, bass playing gentlemen I've had the good fortune to hang with since Michael Anthony.", exclaims Randy - who continues to "burning the candles at both ends" adds, ". . .it was well worth it!"
You thought 2006 rocked? Wait until this year...
HOT FOR TEACHER celebrated the new year with their respective families and rang it in with bells on. Randy and Amy Monroe did make a brief appearance to see friends and former HFT musicians, drummer Larry Howe (HFT, Viscious Rumors, Aaron Pearson Project) and part time keyboardist Aaron Pearson perform in Randy's hometown of Concord. Randy was coaxed up on stage to perform VH favorite and HFT title tune, "Hot For Teacher"! Needless to say, the audience also turned it up a notch with their raucous antics.
HFT will be trvelling to the great Northwest to perform two shows. First, with 99.9 KISW in Seattle at El Corozon and next in Portland with 92.3 KGON at Berbati's Pan. Josh Gibson, vocalist from Alice in Chains Tribute Junkhead will be travelling with the band, and will be backed by Seattle's AIC tribute Jar Of Flies.
The Layne Staley Fund will be on hand at both shows to sell and raffle off items and celebrate the music of the late great, Layne Staley.
Randy says, "HFT loves to collaborate with fund-raising and benefits for needed causes. The LSF is a wonderful entity that raises money to help those addicted to heroine, get off the stuff and deal with life, one day at a time!"
The loss of great artists to heroin addiction is unacceptable. We invite you to join our list of donors and volunteers to help make our vision possible. By donating directly, purchasing merchandise or by volunteering your time, you can be the difference.
Tre says, "HOT FOR TEACHER is the best kept secret in the San Francisco Bay Area".
Randy replied, "Perhaps that's because we've been busy in the 18 months traveling from Denver to Tucson, Hawaii, Seattle and Portland and all up and down California and Nevada. We haven't been able to play a show near home in quite a while."
Maybe also, Green Day has been touring so much, Tre hasn't had the opportunity to listen to KSAN 107.7 The BONE or KLOS 95.5 "Mark and Brian Show", which mentions HFT often.
Randy, Terry, Jesse, and Eddie are taking a much needed six week break to spend time with their families, but will be back in January in Seattle with KISW, KGON in Portland, and outside of Las Vegas in Mesquite.
The HFT family wishes everyone a very merry and cheerful, safe Holiday Season!
HOT FOR TEACHER and Nady Systems... together at last!
First, the boys blew the roof off at last Tuesday night's Donors Choose fund-raising event in San Francisco. San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsome and Olympic Gold Medal Skier, Johnny Moseley were on hand to get the festivities under way. Though numbers are still being tabulated, we understand that it is in the $100,000 range and all of the money goes to educators, who use it in the classroom.
On Saturday, the HFT boys "rocked" the hell out of the folks at the Manteca Pumpkinfest. Hired to boost dwindling beer sales for the local Kiwanas, who use it for various community causes, HFT set yet another fund-raising record; all be it this time because of consumption! We asked and the public graciously complied. The music of Van Halen gets people in to a "party spirit and it is just another way to bring in revenue for good causes.

Tickets are $50.00 for teachers/educators, $100.00 for general public and $250.00 for VIP. San Francisco rock tribute band, HOT FOR TEACHER will be the entertainment for the event as this year's theme is "Hot For Teachers"!
Randy Monroe, HFT's lead vocalist and a public, middle-school, Earth Science Teacher, at national Blue Ribbon Award winning Foothill Middle in Walnut Creek, CA says,” I’m delighted to be involved with such a tremendous cause and organization. We expect to generate $100, 000.00 or more. This is such a valuable and needed resource for teachers across the United States that really benefits the students and what a fun way to do it!"
To date, Donors Choose has already raised well over 7.5 million dollars for educators and schools.
They are also currently sponsoring the "Back to School" challenge until September 30; which automatically funds one half the amount of a funding request; below $400.00.

Night Ranger guitarist extraordinaire Brad Gillis will be taking his full-blown, high-octane shredding riffs to Sacramento, California for a guest performance with Van Halen tribute band, HOT FOR TEACHER!
Brad will be appearing with HOT FOR TEACHER at 96.9 The Eagle's Mock Rock Festival II, presented by Metro PCS, July 29th, 2006 at Raley Field. Gates open at 5:00pm and the show starts at 6:00pm featuring incredible performances by ROCKS (A Tribute to Aerosmith), RAIN (The Most Renowned Beatles Tribute in the World) and HOT FOR TEACHER (Northern California's Premier Van Halen Tribute Band)!
Since Night Ranger's first release in 1982, Brad's mastery of the strings and whammy bar have helped lead this rocking AOR band to the top of the charts and multi-platinum sales around the world. Brad has almost twenty gold and platinum albums to his name and has appeared in over a dozen MTV and VH1 music videos. His first solo album, "Gilrock Ranch" (1993) produced the top twenty AOR single, "Honest to God", co-written and sung by the legendary Gregg Allman, while his latest release, "Alligator" (2001), has gained him even greater success. However, Gillis' guitar history began long before the break-through of Night Ranger.
At the age of nineteen, Brad joined the San Francisco based funk-rock band Rubicon. Together they recorded two albums, "Rubicon" and "American Dreams", with 20th Century Fox Records. When Rubicon disbanded, Brad and two other band members, Jack Blades and Kelly Keagy, went on to form a hard rock band with the short-lived name Stereo. When the other half of the guitar duo, Jeff Watson, and keyboardist Alan "Fitz" Fitzgerald joined the ranks, Night Ranger was born. It was during this same time period that Brad became one of the founding fathers of another band - The Alameda All Stars. Staying true to its initial purpose as that of a "fun" band, the AAS has remained a part of Brad's musical life since it's inception in the summer of 1979. In the early 80's while Night Ranger was gaining public interest, heavy metal god Ozzy Osbourne also recognized the talent in Brad and for the next year he spread himself between the Osbourne sensation and the Night Ranger effort, and can be heard on lead guitar on Osbourne's "Speak of the Devil" live album. After leaving Ozzy's band, Gillis wrote, recorded and toured for almost a decade with Night Ranger, contributing to such hits as "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", "Sister Christian", "When You Close Your Eyes", and "(You Can Still)Rock in America", just to name a few. After years of being one of the top grossing touring bands of the 80's, the members of Night Ranger decided to go their separate ways in 1988, but then reformed in the late 90's and released two more albums, "Neverland"(1997) and "Seven"(1998). Brad toured with the band in support of each album, and spent the summer of 1999 headlining the "Rock Never Stops Tour" with Ted Nugent and supporting bands Quiet Riot and Slaughter.
Today Brad still tours with Night Ranger, produces and engineers on other band's studio projects, writes original music (some of which has been featured in the Tiger Woods' X-Box game), scores for films and TV, and, of course, still plays, records and writes with The Alameda All Stars - the band that he helped get started a little over 25 years ago.

The next day, Randy and Terry headed down to Fremont and their friend Big T (Tom)'s Annual Block Party with HFT Keyboardist Scott Overly playing with his blues band in the afternoon!
Then, Randy and Terry headed to San Jose to see a few more buddies; Pat Travers, Greg and son Rye Kihn, John Waite and The entire 98.5 KFOX staff, Laurie Roberts, Chris Jackson, and Tim Jeffreys! Aaron Leigh was again on hand with Brad Gillis.
Naturally, after watching musicians jam all day, Randy and Terry were itching to jam a little, too! So they headed back north to join Brad at Masses in Walnut Creek with former HFT drummer Roger and Matt Lundy for an All-Star jam.
Pool party tomorrow and rehearsal/BBQ for the 4th! Happy Independence Day to all!
Among chatter about sharing the same vocal teacher, Claudine Spindt with Sammy Hagar, Randy will sing a little solo "Ice Cream Man" to tease the listeners!
The Speedway could think of no better opening for the thunderous, fire breathing USAC 410 non-winged sprint cars than the shreaking Lead Singer for the extremely popular band. Joining Monroe on the front stretch will be the renowned shredder, HOT FOR TEACHER lead guitarist Terry Lauderdale.
The USAC sprint cars never dissappoint, and it's possible one might see the next Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon manuevering his rocket sled at speeds surpassing 100 miles per hour around the 1/3 mile high banked clay oval just after Monroe's address.
Right after the races, catch HOT FOR TEACHER live at The Red Fox in Grover Beach, just minutes north on the 101 freeway.
Congratulations on the Book Jim!
Randy comments, "It was a gorgeous day in the city, and time well spent with good friends, supporting a good cause!"
On a side note, guitarist extroidanaire Jude Gold will be featured with bass players Jeff Berlin, Billy Sheehan, and Stu Hammand accompianied by drummer John Mader. Jude was HFT's fill-in during Terry Lauderdale's stint last summer with metal gods, Heathen. Jude will be doing 9 shows in the midwest and on the east coast over the next couple weeks. If you can, catch a show. All are virtuosos.
HFT will be back in Northern California the following night, Saturday the 25th at Cache Creek Casino, Nor Cal's only 4 diamond joint. Take a drive, see some Van Halen, and win some money; jing, jing, jing jing... $ $ $ ! ! ! This is an early show: 8:00-9:15PM, so get there early and let's party people!

Randy was interviewed by KCBS's George Harris about his upcoming trip to Cape Canaveral for the launch of New Horizons.
If you happen to miss the interview or simply couldn't find the AM dial, be sure to turn on the ole' "boob-tube" tonight at 11PM for another star appearance by Mr. Monroe on KRON Channel 4 News talking about his trip!
Well, not exactly, but close enough. Randy is traveling to Cape Canaveral in Florida next week to participate in the launch of New Horizons, a space probe headed for Pluto.
You can say Randy has a personal connection with the probe since his stepfather, James Christy, discovered Pluto's moon in 1978 and named it after his mother, Charon.

Register by 12/15/2005, and be entered to win a dozen (12) sets of Sfarzo S.F.T. Screamer Guitar Strings.
Sfarzo will randomly select the winner on 12/16/2005. Good Luck!
HOT FOR TEACHER would like to extend Ed the warmest of welcomes into the ever-evolving HFT Family. Ed brings along with him a true passion for the music of Van Halen along with a sincere appreciation for the position at hand. Although, not an easy spot to fill, Ed has been instrumental(no pun intended) at fulfilling the bottom end to a tee that rivals Alex himself.
Welcome Eddie... and hold on tight... cause your in for one hellava ride!
Terry Lauderdale joins Sfarzo Strings!
Sfarzo Guitar String Company - Superior Guitar Strings for Superior Guitarists welcomes Terry Lauderdale to the Sfarzo Endorsing Artist Roster.
"I was surfing the Internet the other day and came across Terry’s website. I was blown away by this extraordinary guitarist and decided to give him a call." ,said Sfarzo founder, Greg Sfarzo.
Terry has just completed a successful European tour with the Legendary Bay Area Thrash/Metal Band, Heathen. The band played to packed houses and festivals across England, Scotland, Germany, France, Holland and Belgium leaving the UK and European metal fans in stunned disbelief as Terry "shredded up" Heathen's most popular speed metal songs. Some fans drove miles to see the "once-in-a-lifetime" Heathen appearance!
As well as working with his many guitar students, Terry continues his hectic touring schedule with his Van Halen Tribute Band - HOT FOR TEACHER, amazing concertgoers wherever they perform. The virtuoso fretwork of guitarist Terry Lauderdale continues to stir audiences into the wildest of frenzy and leaves them in jaw dropping awe!
Greg said, "After sending Terry some S.F.T. Screamer Electric sets, he contacted me."
"I'm hooked! I love the strings! They felt great, great tone and most of all, they didn't break! The reason I point that out is that I play very hard and pull up(all the way) on my Floyd Rose tremolo quite a bit and the Sfarzo's never gave in!", exclaims Terry.
Sfarzo has found that the SFARZO Rounded-Hex Core, allows the wrap to grip better on the core wire, therefore less chance of wrap separation. This allows a tighter wrap winding which reduces the chance of acid from your sweaty hands getting onto the core wire, which causes oxidation and literally rots the string from the inside out. Generally speaking, the wrap is nickel alloy and virtually nonmagnetic. Results are very powerful while achieving a bright output sound. Sustain is fantastic on this Rounded-Hex core. S.F.T.'s were introduced in the late 1990's and still are a favorite for guitarists everywhere.
"I look forward to spreading the word about Sfarzo Strings!" ,says Terry.

HOT FOR TEACHER is taking part in the second annual KFOX Last Band Standing Competition! There are three categories - Classic Rock Tribute Bands (bands that focus on one particular band), Classic Rock Cover Bands (bands that cover various artists), and Classic Rock Cover Bands/Tribute Bands under 18.
Finalists will be selected by KFOX staff, then voted on by KFOX listeners at KFOX.com. Top vote getters will perform live on the Greg Kihn morning show on 98-5 KFOX, and listeners will again vote for their favorites, to determine the Last Band Standing winners in each category.
This morning, Greg Kihn said, "HOT FOR TEACHER is going to be the band to beat!"
HOT FOR TEACHER would like to thank everyone for coming out to support the band and our Gulf Coast Neighbors in need.
*Note that The Dean Lesher Center was originally designed for plays and other productions in which the acoustics are amplified from low-level sources. The architectural sound design of the hall could barely withstand the 100,000 watts of power, creating a nightmare for the sound engineers on the night of the event.
"While auditions are still being held, Ed has graciously offered his services, until we find the right fit for HFT", says Randy Monroe.
He continues, "I'll tell you what, after our first rehearsal with him, the shows that Ed plays with us, will sound spot-on to the [Van Halen] albums. He brings the all the hits, strikes, sounds, and dynamics of the original recordings and we are very excited about taking the stage with him"!
You can check out HOT FOR TEACHER's first gig with Ed at The King's Head Pub in Campbell on September 17th. Be sure to check the "Shows" page for other newly added dates and more details.
Taking over for “monster skin-basher” Larry Howe in the beginning of May, 2005 was no easy task to say the least, but Chris has made a very impressionable mark on the band and the music of Van Halen. With his dozen shows on drums, he has virtually raised the bar to yet another level for his replacement to be named in the coming week.
The band would like to wish him the best of luck in future endeavors and with his new band - Sangre Eterna, plus his MOTORWARS project coming up.
Chris extends his thanks to the “HFT Family" and to all the fans who have come out to support the greatest Rock-n-Roll band of all time – The Mighty Van Halen.
"What an awesome opportunity for HOT FOR TEACHER to be part of this record.", says Randy Monroe.
"We are very honored to participate in this project paying tribute to Rock-n-Roll's greatest Front-man [David Lee Roth]. We look forward to its success."
"Just Like Paradise" is scheduled release date is November 22nd, 2005 on Versailles Records.
Terry asks that after hearing the free downloadable track from the A.F.C. website that you make a small donation for this great cause.
Artists for Charity is an organization that is 100% devoted to raising awareness and securing funds for humanitarian causes. It is made up of artists from all over the world who not only volunteer time, but also donate their precious artwork for the sake of change.

"Things look pretty bleak for you Van Halen fans. Sammy and Eddie are again feuding. David Lee Roth is suing his old band. Nobody wants that guy from Extreme back. About the best you can do is check out the Bay Area's best Van Halen Tribute Band, Hot For Teacher, which covers the Roth era better than the real band could at this point.'

"I've always been a huge VH fan; now I'm also an HFT fan".
to quote Steve Perry, "....ooh oooh, anytime that ya need me..."
cheers all,
Jude

How could I refuse?
There are only two dates in July that I cannot play with HOT FOR TEACHER. July 3rd & 16th. Filling in for me will be guitarist Jude Gold. Jude is an editor for Guitar Player Magazine and shares the stage with Chris Kontos and IZZY Ozborne in their kick ass OZZY Tribute.
I had a chance to see him play and I feel that he will kick ass and continue to bring what HFT fans have come to expect... a great sounding high energy live show!
Good Luck Jude and thank you!

"This is only our fourth practice.", jokingly exclaimed Randy Monroe into the mic during the second of 4 blazing sets. [The band, with its newest blood, seemed to be doing this together for 10 plus years!] Simply amazing!
On Saturday night, HOT FOR TEACHER was back at it again at Bourbon Street in Concord. Not to mention that Chris hammered out an afternoon gig for 107.7 The Bone in Sunnyvale. The band was "on fire" and left the crowd in utter disbelief as to how they came together so damn quickly!
"Wait 'till you hear us six weeks from now.", said Chris Kontos. "We're just getting started."

"HFT's drive is the energy, passion, and power of the music itself - period!, says vocalist, Randy Monroe. "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!" Luckily, we have been fortunate enough to find two of the best musicians, that money can't buy!
With little need for introductions, on drums, Chris Kontos (Machine Head, Testament, Exodus, Verbal Abuse, Death Angel, Custard Pie, and most recently The Servants). Chris is an unbelievable drummer with an impressive resume including 15 albums to date! His powerful drumming and techniques will elevate HOT FOR TEACHER to a whole new level!
Rounding out the bottom-end will be Aaron Leigh who performed with Randy Castillo, Dean Cassanova, and Steve Vai for Ozzy Osborne. Concurrently, Aaron plays bass in the up-incoming band, Echo of Souls. Keep your ears open for theses guys, they are going to hit the charts for sure with their soon to be released debut recording.
HOT FOR TEACHER would like to thank everyone for their continued support. We hope to see all our regular fans out there as well as some new faces in the crowd. With Chris and Aaron's support, this band is going to soar to new heights without question. Stay tuned for a more details and lots of new shows!

HOT FOR TEACHER bassist Jimmi Ward loves them Oakland Raiders. So much so, he also plays in a band dedicated to “Raider’s Rock-N-Roll” – RaiderHed. The January issue of Stuff Magazine declares checking out RaiderHed as number 6 of the “15 Crucial Sports Events you’ve gotta get to before you kick.”
We were very happy to see such a great turnout at all of the Parties and made lots of new friends in the process! What a wild time it was, eh? Rooster's and Porky's were packed to the hilt and a great time was had by all! But let's not forget to thank the one's who inspired all of the above... The Almighty Van Halen! Thank you for your music and coming to our area. We wish them the best for the remainder of their tour!
...stay tuned for all the new pictures and some video!
The following Wednesday morning, words of enthusiastic praise could be heard throughout the radio airwaves about HOT FOR TEACHER's performance. A caller, better known as San Jose Mercury News’s very own Entertainment Columnist and Van Halen fan, phoned in to musical hero and radio personality, Greg Kihn of KFOX. He stated that while watching Van Halen at the Pavilion on Tuesday night, “Eddie[VH] had some problems, went to check you guys out [HOT FOR TEACHER and you guys were RIGHT ON and NAILED the VH!” He also said, “Van Halen should hire HOT FOR TEACHER's guitarist”.
“Its nice to hear words of encouragement from new people...”, says Randy Monroe. “...believe me when I say, we’re just getting started!”
Well, while it's possible that Eddie may have been off on a note or two, he will surely be rockin’ harder at Oakland this Friday night and beyond… We hope to see you there, and at Rooster’s for the Party afterwards!
Let’s not to forget about this Friday’s BIG “Pre-show” Party with 107.7 The Bone as they come to Oakland for Bone Hometown with Steven Seaweed! The boys will hit the stage at 4:30pm to kick off the night’s festivities at Max's Operahouse Café. Check out the “Shows” page for more details.
